January Sock Club Inspired by Gustav Klimt
Born in 1862 (D 1918), Gustav Klimt was an Austrian Symbolist painter and one of the most prominent members of the Vienna Art Nouveau Movement. His major works include paintings, murals, sketches, and other art objects, many of which are on display in the Vienna Secession gallery. Klimt's primary subject was the female body, and his works are marked by a frank eroticism.
Klimt was born in Baumgarten, near Vienna, the second of seven children, three boys and four girls. Klimt lived in poverty for most of his childhood, as work was scarce and the economy difficult for immigrants.
In 1876, Klimt was enrolled in the Vienna School of Arts and Crafts until 1883. He also received training as an architectural painter. Over this life, he received many art awards including the Golden Order of Merit from Emperor Franz Josef 1 of Austria.
What I love about his works
I love so many of his works, especially The Kiss, due to the display of tenderness and affection shows towards the woman. The play between the reflection of the gold leaf and colours in the painting are very pretty and warm.
What colours are you planning for January?The colours for this month will be tones of mustard, sand and bronze with pops of colours including orange, purple and green, with a hint of pink. The darker shades will be moody and deep whilst the lighter tones will be a little softer and more gentle.
All yarn club colours are a delightful mystery! We reserve full creative freedom when crafting our colours, so the yarn you receive might be exactly as imagine or wonderfully unexpected. This is the charm and joy of participating in our yarn clubs! Please note that variations may occur between skeins, even within the same dye lot. If using more than 100 grams of hand-dyed yarn, we recommend alternating skeins for the best results.

When do the open and when do you post them to us? Sock Clubs open on the 1st of each month and will remain open for 2 weeks. Clubs will be posted at the end of each month. If you order other products at the same time, we will hold your order until the Sock Club yarns are ready to go. All packages will ship with tracking. You will receive an email letting you know the club has shipped with a tracking number (Australia Post Tracking Number).
