Cockleshell Fichu - Printed Pattern
This pattern comes in printed format, beautifully presented in an A4 booklet.
Designed by Vera Marcu, worked from the bottom up, the fichu is started with one repeat of the main stitch pattern, a traditional Shetland lace pattern called “Cockle shell”.
After completing one motif, two more are added on either side by backwards-loop cast-ons of 19 stitches; this process is repeated after completing each “Cockle Shell” pattern vertically.
Gauge : 24 stitches & 54 rows = 10 cm (4”) in garter stitch. As it is a free-form item with a lace texture, gauge is not essential and can be adjusted according to the desired finish.
Yarn: Approximately 400 metres / 437 yards per 100grams of 4ply (fingering weight) yarn.
