Dye Studio Assistant
Blackwattle Alpaca Farm / Blackwattle Yarn and Fibre
Casual: from 15 to 22.5 hours per week (may progress to PPT hours)
Hours: 7.5 hours per day with a 30 minute lunch break and morning/afternoon tea breaks
Work Days: Monday, Thursday and Friday 9.30-5.30

Blackwattle Alpaca Farm is looking for a passionate and reliable Dye Studio Assistant who is interested in joining and supporting a local farming, yarn production and agritourism business.

About the role…

The Dye Assistant role is primarily to provide support to the Dye Team and involves mixing dyes, cleaning, washing, spinning and hanging dyed yarn and fibre. It involves heavy lifting and repetitive manual tasks.

Key accountabilities:

  • mixing dyes, rising, hanging and drying yarn
  • providing assistance in hand dyeing yarn, under the guidance of the Lead Dyer
  • washing equipment used during the dye process
  • general administration support  (e.g. labelling yarn)
  • other duties as directed

Note: the job involves heavy lifting, standing all day and working on cement floors, therefore being physically fit is a requirement of this job.

Terms of employment:

  • Hours: 2-3 days per week – Monday, Thursday and Friday from 9.30am to 5.30pm.
  • 7.5 hours per day with a 30-minute lunch break and a 15-minute tea break.
  • Location: Blackwattle Alpaca Farm – 315 Patemans Lane, Murrumbateman, NSW.
  • This position is casual with the possibility of changing to an ongoing PPT position following a successful 3-month probationary period or for business requirements.
  • Wages are paid in accordance with the Texilte, Clothing, Footwear and Associates Indusrty Award [MA000017].
