Fibre with Friends Retreat 2019

Fibre with Friends Retreat – 21st and 22nd September 2019, is a 2 day,  5 star ‘on-farm alpaca experience’,  being held on our farm “One Tree Hill”, Murrumbateman, NSW. Friends, new and old, getting together to celebrate all things alpaca and for those passionate about fibre, art and crafting. The two day retreat will be full of all things alpaca with lots of wonderful classes and very knowledgeable teachers!

The retreat is being held on our farm which has beautiful views of the farm, alpacas and wineries. Local wine and food will be served over the weekend. All meals will be made by the on-site chef, who will be preparing and serving some very wonderful and yummy food, paired with some equally yummy local wines.

The weekend includes:

  • 4 workshops for each person (2 on Saturday and 2 on Sunday)
  • Saturday and Sunday – morning and afternoon teas, lunches (sit down chef catered lunch), tea and coffee all day
  • Saturday night – 2 course, chef catered, dinner and drinks (on-farm)
  • Alpaca Fibre and Yarn Discussion Panel (Saturday afternoon before dinner)
  • gift bag with lots of local goodies (value = $200)
  • 10% off the Blackwattle labelled yarn and fibre from the Farm Shop over the weekend
  • Retail Hub – designer products for sale and information displays
  • meet and greet the alpacas and take a few for walk

Participants will be able to choose from a wonderful range of workshops, and there will be lots of choose from. The retreat fee $940 covers everything (excluding transport). It covers all meals, drinks and all workshops. There are no additional costs for any of the workshops; the only thing that attendees need to bring is their favourite crochet hooks and knitting needles. All supplies for the workshops will be provided. Please note: not all workshops listed will be run over the weekend. If people don’t select specific workshops they will not be run.

Workshops will be held around the farm and house, with many of the workshop locations over-looking the farm and alpacas. How much pleasure will you get knowing that you are working on alpaca fibre that has been grown on our farm or from the actual alpaca you see walking around the paddock?

There will be a quiet area, in the farm house, where you can get away for a little bit, recharge your batteries or just sit quietly and have a chat with other fibre artists or maybe a teacher or two. Don’t want to do all 4 classes? No problem. Spend some of your time in the quiet area if you wish.

In addition there will be a Retail Hub, where teachers will be showcasing their finished products. They might even have a few kits for sale so you can take home and work on your next project! Or some finished products you can buy to keep or give as gifts.
